Last night my friend Steve Schroeder (commonly known as States Rights Steve) was asked to DJ at the Oregon Health & Sciences University holiday party. Our awesome friend Fiona, whom is the super-star actress in The Badger King opera "The Showering Dragons," is a second-year med student at OHSU, and she totally hooked Steve up with this gig. Zac Pennington, Mike Merrill, Steve and myself rolled to the party together. We were sort of blown away with how formal the part was. Dogs came in dresses and suits! A couple kids dressed up in funny outfits and danced in character. Steve tore it up. He had the whole dance floor (which was a gym) on their nice-shoed feet! He played so many jams that my head nearly caved-in.
This was the first thing of the year that really got me in the holiday spirit. I'm excited about chistmas trees. I used to sell them in the parking lot of my parents' gas station. Ask me about the Noble Fir. Ask me about the Douglas Fir. I know. I know. The other thing I'm really excited about is moving. I've lived in the same apartment for almost three years and it's time to get out. I'm going to live in a warehouse/art space in shallow SE Portland. I'm going to paint the walls soft pink and build a loft. Zac Pennington is going to live in this space with me. We're trying to figure out how to get a hot tub. We aren't rich kids.. we need some sort of used (but not gross) hot tub.. maybe we can build one? Any ideas? There's a washer/dryer hook-up in the space.. hmm.
