So I'm chilling out (so hard) in DeKalb, IL waiting for the show to start and for my new friend from Grand Rapids to show up and hang out.. You see, this guy has made an incredible offer of picking me up in DeKalb (4 1/2 hours from his home), driving to Chicago and picking up Luke, driving the two of us to Grand Rapids where he has set up a show for us, then driving us to Chicago the next day.. today. So, dude doesn't show up. I'm like "whoa." Also, my love is like "woah." Instead, two of his friends come to DeKalb, but didn't know anything of the Luke in Chicago bit.. they wanted to drive back to Grand Rapids THAT NIGHT. Shim-sham.

These kids... these saints.. their names are Matt and Phil and they are total sweetheart awesome-dudes. They rolled with every bump. Rob and I ended up driving to Chicago in the rental car while they stayed at Matt's parents' house on the I-88, about 40 minutes from Chicago. Luke rolled in around 11 and we ate breakfast together before seeing off Rob. I miss Rob! I miss the dude so much! All said and done, it was really awesome to spend time and play shows with the duder.

So we roll into Grand Rapids and check out Matt and Phil's really beautiful art space for their collective called DYNAMITE. Matt told us about some of their projects and now I'm totally inspired to make similar things on my next tours. Even seemingly little things like gathering tap water from each city then having a taste test show back at home... things like this just get me so pumped on people and art. After hanging out at Dynadude for a bit we rolled over to where the show was happening. The show was in a stairwell! A LITERAL STAIRWELL! I was so in. We all played at the bottom of the stairwell and the kids sat on the steps and looked down on us.. silently judging.. No! They were totally nice! Sarah from Portland/Ann Arbor drove with her nice pal from Detroit! IT WAS AWESOME! She even gave me a mini-can of Coke.I really loved playing last night. After having a bummed-out computer the night before this felt really triumphant. EFF YOU COMPUTER PROBLEMS! Thank you for coming to the show. Same deal with you, like DeKalb, Grand Rapids.. I didn't feel like it was the right time for the sweepstakes presentation.. so click here to enter the contest/take the quiz.

OFF TO CHICAGO!

Oh, the picture.. this was taken after the show at our chips-n-salsa-n-laptop party at the Dynamite space. (L-R: Luke with his back to us, Matt, Phil, Ryan, Me on the floor and David "BONER CITY" Sampson)

David's a dork. look at him in that picture trying to look all cool and stuff. of course he'll put on a good show for YACHT, but will he do it for anyone else? noooooo. If his friends weren't so nice I'd stick my gaslight right up his flesh & stuff.

Who's a wuss?? CORY!!! THAT'S WHO!
Dude! I was driving cross state lines on school nights for lesser shows at your age. Better toughen up before you're taking business classes for your CPA in two years.
P.S. Don't be a wuss!
P.P.S. YACHT & Lucky Dragons stole all my stuff!

Hi Jona.
I found something today I thought you would appreciate. It was a copy of Badical Turbo Radness' "To The Rescue". I suppose what's neat about it, is that the booklet had been signed by Adam Kline and some other member (Adam Kline is a big hot guy) and right behind the cd, there was a note that Rob wrote (Here's directions to a cool house in Cambria, California! Love, Rob Kieswetter *then a hand drawn map*) I thought it was fun...
By the way, were you still interested in playing a show out here (AZ) sometime later in the summer? I would still love to do that for you.
ByeBye<3
