We drove from Edinburgh, Scotland to London, England while listening to the England vs Croatia football game on the radio. Euro 2004 has been sort of a crazy thing following us around. Will Wrists + Pistols is from England and was very excited during the game, so we pulled over at some small town and watched the game in a pub. There were women, men, children, dogs, cats and birds watching the match so energetically. It was inspiring to see such a strong and diverse group of people together. Some people would say that it's lame. They are mean.

When we took a flight from London to Sweden, there was a small group of people right outside of customs gathered around a TV with the Denmark vs Sweden match. When we got to Copenhagen there were all kinds of painted-faced people both in favor of Denmark AND Sweden. No fights. Just a lot of drunken singing. It's cool that we're going to be here for the entire tournament, up until the final match on the 4th of July. Totally crazy. I think I'm going to become a football fan? We'll see. I like this crazy 18 year-old Rooney dude. Sort of a meathead, sort of sweet? It's hard to say with my very, very, very limited view of the sport.

After being in Denmark again visiting with Mikkel, Helén, Nis, Jacob and our other Danish friends for about 5 hours I checked my email and found a last-minute show waiting for us in Oslo, Norway. There were Thai food and drinks promised.. Of course, I emailed immediately to let them know we'd love to play the show, but we'd need our travel expenses paid for since we're a bunch of broke blokes. They wrote back and told us they'd pay one-way for the bus.. I was still in, but the Luke and Rob didn't think they could swing it. I don't know why I thought I could.. I'm the most broke of the crew.. but I wrote back and told the extremely accommodating Jens that I would make the trip alone. After a few confusing and broken-up phone calls we somehow managed to get a train ride for the three of us both ways. At first it was the three of us on a bus overnight, arriving in Oslo at 6AM.. then it was just me doing that.. then it was just me taking a train.. then, finally, the three of us. Thai food + Norway = something strange, but very much my dream.

Norway! Norway! I've been wanting to come to Norway since I was a little dude. I attended a week-long Norwegian language camp in the summer of both 5th and 6th grade. So much fun. I hardly remember any of the language.. just simple stuff like takk, etc. This reminded me that in 2001, after going to Japan with Dear Nora and Mirah I had made sort of a "life goal" list that included visiting Norway and playing a show as YACHT. Before this I'd been playing in The Badger King full-time and I'd been sort of scared and unsure of how to make a laptop music show interesting. It's cool that I've accomplished at least one of those two goals! haha I hope I make shows interesting. I think I do. I try real hard to bounce around and fall down as much as possible. I feel this shit.

Truly,
Jona

did you know that you very much so make a laptop show interesting? i have seen many a lame dude in ann arbor make a laptop show quite boring. also, you should keep getting into "football" because it is a "gentlemans game" and intensely enjoyable to watch

Yes, you make laptop music very fun. Your music is really fun. You're one of the only dudes making fun computer music, Dat Politics, Matmos, and Wobbly are in this catergory as well.
