We arrived in the Oslo train station around 1 PM. Rob hadn't slept at all, I slept 30 minutes and Luke caught about an hour.. or two at best. We had decided to go out in Copenhagen with Nis, the Wrists + Pistols crew and a handful of nice Danes.
Yesterday was the summer solstice; the longest day of the year; Sankt Hans. In Denmark they make bonfires in the river on barges and they party crazy. We were only involved in some mild partying. We met all the dudes on a dock/boat party near Christiania by the Architecture Institute or something. The dock was a bar called Kontiki or something similar, and the boat was having a show on the top part. It had been raining like crazy all day, so I wore two pairs of socks to soak up the water still stuck in my shoes. This made my shoes feel really soft and comfy, but sort of mushy when the water started soaking through. Oh man, this is starting to get so gross.. why am I writing about this? Okay, never mind that. The boat show was awesome. We danced hard and met these nice kids on tour from New York and LA from a band called Butterknife Krüsh.
When the boat show and dock jams ended we walked to the city center and picked up three of the free city bikes and road them to Mikkel's house. By this time it was 3 AM and I had set my phone's alarm for 4:30 AM so we could make it to the central station on the city bikes in time for our 5:50 AM train to Oslo. I packed up my stuff, checked my email and slept for 30 minutes. We rode the bikes in the cold, cold morning and made it to the station with just enough time to grab an Applesin juice (orange juice) and a breaded-item. Did I talk about the bikes already? I like them so much.. you pop a 20 Kroner coin in to release it from the lock, then when you lock it up you get the coin back. Cool, yeah? Yeah!
When we got to the venue they made us Thai soup and gave us cokes and beers. My god this was probably the best soup I've ever had in my life. The venue is called Cafe SKA, and it's on the Norwegian Royal Academy of Art campus. It's very soft and mellow in here... nice vibes, for sure. They played Joni Mitchell records for about 2 hours straight before putting on Working Man's Dead. Tightly.
My new friend Roy from the band Starbug sang me a couple Norwegian kindergarten songs, one of which is called på en støvete landevei and goes like this (32 KB - MP3). I like it so much. Here's (64KB - MP3) what it means in English.

Jonamin!
