I've been up in Olympia recording some beats and drums for the new Calvin Johnson record at Dub Narcotic and Adam Forkner came up on Thursday to record a couple rock songs with me on drums, Calvin on guitar and Adam on bass. I've really loved being up here at K recording and hanging out. Everyone here is damned nice and helpful. K is putting out the 12" vinyl version of The Blow EP I made with Khaela in November and I'm real excited. I've always wanted to put something out on K and this is the closest I've gotten so far.. I've played drums on a couple Little Wings records.. maybe there will be a YACHT release someday. Speaking of YACHT releases..

Around November (hopefully) I'll have a new EP for you. It's a 10" vinyl record with a CD and a DVD all in one package. Marriage Records will be releasing it and it'll have all kinds of nice and new things on it. Three YACHT videos, two Blow videos, an entire live show, little movies and a documentary I'm in on a battle with crane-operated toy machines. BOOM. I think I'll be touring with The Blow in November and I'll have copies available, but it all depends on this stuff getting done and printed and back in time.. cross your fingers.

So Friday I played with The Blow as part of MusicFestNW at Nocturnal. Then Saturday we drove to Walla Walla and Khaela did a test run of sorts for her new project that's making its refined debut at the PICA festival this weekend. Her new thing is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7PM in the Wieden + Kennedy atrium. BE THERE. After Walla Walla I played three shows on Sunday in Olympia... a breakfast show at 11am, a YACHT show at 7pm and a Blow show at 8pm. DEEPER DISCO. I feel a little crazy and it's not going to stop for a while. Tomorrow there's a big show at Disjecta you shouldn't miss, then a HUGE, MASSIVE, AWESOME, SPECIAL, ISLAND-VIBRATION show at MachineWorks on Thursday at 10pm. Got it? FESTIVUS SEASON PART TWO! The summer has just about ended and we're all celebrating our last days out in the open before we hide in our winter caves and get crummy.

On our drive to Olympia right after the Walla Walla show Khaela and I were treated to a "deli special" by the nice man working at the Shell station. The special was this: anything we wanted out of the hot food case was FREE. Khaela chose the jo-jos over the chicken and pizza-burritos. They stunk up the car but the man's kindness didn't go unnoticed. THANK YOU SIR!

I'm having a hard time keeping clear thoughts in my head right now. Everything is moving so fast and piling up before I leave on tour again. Yeah, I leave on the 24th and I'll be back on the 22nd. Then I leave again.. October, November and possibly December. 2004 will go down as the year I toured so damned much and didn't mind it really at all. It could go down as the year I toured in Europe both for the first time and three times within 6 months. WEIRD.

I'm so excited about this new EP. I think you guys will like it.

NEW! LOOK AT THESE!

Truly,
Jona

Damn kid!

The YACHT means 'serious business'.

Good luck with the touring. Hope to catch a show.
