DEVENDRA TOUR: PARIS & RENNES

Okay, okay, okay. I'm sorry. I couldn't find my camera before the show in Paris... I couldn't find my rainbow scarf, either. These are two items that have been with me on stage this entire tour.. and now where are they? Well, I'll tell you. My camera was "lost" deep within the bottom of my backpack with the most dead of batteries inside the camera, so two strikes there. The scarf was in the "van," as we're calling it. The thing is, we just can't get used to this bus.. we've all toured, extensively, in vans and cars..

Back on track! I felt so bad today for not having any Paris footage or pictures to share with you that I think I sort of overcompensated with video for you. FOR YOU! This is all pre-show, mind you, so you can expect even more after the show. Right now Coco Rosie is playing and we're listening to the newest David Cross album on Andy's computer. Good feelings.

Okay, first off I'd like to introduce a little glimpse into the life of sound-check:

Next, I tried to capture a sound that I really fell in love with in the backstage bathroom. I don't think I was particularly successful getting it, but that doesn't mean I didn't try. I think I'm going to try to borrow Andy's minidisc recorder to get a better recording of it.

Here I leave you with one of my favorite movies I've made so far. I really love the sound-check video too, but I think this one tops it. Tell me what you think. I'm not going to give any unnecessary explanation here.. let the movie speak, kid. Ladies and gentleman.. Kritz at his best:

Oh, here's the photo of my laptop I promised. Thanks to Dennis and Kyle for RUINING it. No, just kidding, I really love it. Here's another flyer that I really liked, this one is from Rennes, France.

Speaking of Rennes.. holy crap. That was one of the top three shows of this tour. Everyone was "firing on all cylinders" to use the parlance of our times. Seriously, it was hot.. both very much literally and figuratively. I think we played the very, very best version of White Reggae Troll/Africa, EVER. We talked a lot to the audience, made jokes, gave percussive instruments to the crowd, jumped into the crowd, preached to the crowd and kicked out some deeper jams. I'm serious. It felt so good.

Truly,
Jona

hi jona and krew-

i've been following your site and this tour from chicago...and i'm starting to think i was totally robbed for going on a kritz-less tour. i rolled deep with andy+dev for almost 7 weeks and we didn't boogie board ONCE.

ask kritz if he wants someone to just drive around with him for a while. we can go on a hang-out tour of america. no jamming, just chillin'.

seriously.

mad love-
zach.
