On our way to Grinnell, Iowa we ran in to a little trouble. Nothing serious, keep your hats on, we're totally fine and without any damage to our physically or emotional beings. We just weren't expecting so much snow, or any snow at all. I've toured this time of year the last couple years and I haven't really seen any snow.. but I haven't gone through Wyoming in a long while, either.
After Boise we decided to drive to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Khaela's Mom had gotten us a hotel room to stay in as part of some discount/points/rewards thingy that her business can write-off or get for free or something. The rules say that either Khaela's Mom or Dad has to stay in the room, but in this case we just told the hotel staff that Khaela's Dad would be along later.. Khaela felt so awful for lying to the nice man that she later returned to the front desk and told him the truth. He was happy that she had done so and still gave the account the points or whatever.. I don't understand exactly how it works.
Before all of this hotel business there was something like 736 miles of driving ahead of us. Driving through, visiting and just in general, Idaho is beautiful. Khaela has decided to write an appreciation entry just for Idaho over at thetouchmefeeling.com sometime soon. Wyoming also holds a special and similar place in my heart. The landscape is baron, stark and filled with extra-large greatness.. like each mountainous rock and cliff holds a magic to it.. Khaela did the day driving and I did the night driving. This seems to be how it's going to be for the whole trip. I don't mind, but Wyoming really, really brought the thunder at night. As you will hear me say; I had never driving in snow that intense in my entire driving career. I'd never even seen snow that intense, ever. Luckily my car is a sleek shark that can sail through any weather with little trouble. I mean, I certainly felt the road and snow take control of the car a couple times, but I could always come out of it ahead and untouched. The semi-trucks around us were sometimes fearless and hitting 70 MPH, and other times totally stopped on the side of the road. All in all we made it through it. Check it out:

The next day the wind was blowing pretty hard (see Khaela in the movie) and we got a little bit of a late start. We were stuck to CNN for a bit watching the new Osama video tape, hearing about the missing explosives, hearing about the recovered and destroyed explosives that probably weren't the missing ones, hearing G.W. speak in New Hampshire and getting SO MAD at him. I hope it goes without saying that we both voted for Kerry and plead with you to do the same.
We made it to Grinnell on time and were met with super generous dudes offering us all kinds of foods and take-out menus, all paid for by the school. BOOM! We played an awesome show and headed over to a rad party at THE FIRM, which is an abandoned dance/workout/aerobics gym turned art space rented by our friend Rachael. We were too tired to dance for long and crashed pretty hard only minutes later.
Truly,
Jona
dudes! yet again thanks for all the tour updates and tell Khaela WE ARE REAL! and watching the movies. Last night the Epic Dudes tour rolled through portland and both your presences were missed. Much dancing did ensue. Safe travels and many fun adventures for you both....
good to see yr smiling faces pasted onto deep country landscapes. sorry the weather is being so difficult. take care & safe travels you two.
If you want to talk about "not real" maybe you should start with that fake snow- its only coming down in the part of the picture where there's light! And, I love that cut to the windy field, except there's NO SNOW anywhere..... nice try! ...maybe if you paid a little less attention to "the road" and your "driving" you could make a more convincing movie someday! (like, after you get back home safe would be a good time for that type of thing)
KEYWORDS: love type of thing, !home safe!
the snow was totally fake. and not convincingly scary either. sorry. try better special effects like "white out". also are you compressing these movies more now? you look so blotchy and twitchy! are you eating well?
Dearest Jona,
My dragon is better than your dragon cause he's got two tails.
Hey buddy I work for a kick ass club here in Spokane... when your on your way through let me know so we can hook up!
-Uncle Mike
in that picture your faces are both totally pulling in the same direction it makes me question my own actual face pull, probabably the snow.........

THE SNOW IS SO REAL.. SO MUCH MORE REAL THAN I WISH IT WAS. I wish I knew how to make fake snow. I'm just using QuickTime to edit these movies!
do you think it would be ok if a videotaped the toronto and/or the hamilton show (if you play there)???

I think you are totally cool people. GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING ! ! !
