Photo: One of Portland's finest, Dana Dart-McLean, made us a treasure map to hang up at our shows. Khaela forgot she had packed it in a primarily unused bag until yesterday. I love it so much!
I'm over it. I'm back. I said, I'M BACK!
Grand Rapids, MI. Oberlin, OH. Two cities that have rocked me deeply in the past. Two cities with a deeper industrial midwestern feeling. Cold, cold cities with kids making it hot. Grand Rapids is home to an awesome person, albeit mildly weak-wiener, named David Sampson. This guy makes some real nice music called Caines and Ables and is touring early this spring with my old and lost friend Adrian Orange, also known as Thanksgiving. I think that they'll make some new recordings in Portland on that trip too, so heads stay tuned.
Our show in G-Rad (I wonder if David made up this nickname and is totally grifting me into its legitimacy) was really, really nice. I love the people at DAAC (this link seems to be busted) and I love the venue they have. I felt like there was a lot of love in the room. Sarah Stedman! Cory Weaver! Thank you for driving out of your way to the show. It was so nice to see the kids from the Dynamite collective again as well as Simon.. Dave's really lovingly-hyper dog. I have a really nice person to add to the cat gallery. The picture is on Khaela's camera, so it'll have to wait. Jona, remind yourself to put the new cat gallery picture HERE. Also, people, I refer to cats, dogs, squirrels and other animals as "people" because I think it sounds funny. INTERNET FAUX-PAS #2: Explaining inside jokes. Damn, I'm doing horribly with this. Also, check out hip-hop frog if you ever get the chance.

Ohio, you did something pretty weird a couple of days ago. I almost said something to you in Oberlin. Whatever, though. I don't think these kids at this very liberal college have anything to do with how the electoral college works. We rolled into the show on time, gosh, almost early.. pretty rare for us on this trip. I'm not saying we've been late, we've just been a little risky business. Rock-n-roll, eh? In the early evening Khaela performed her opera "Blue Sky vs Night Sky" in one of the arts buildings on campus and then gave a short lecture/Q&A on how she feels it enough to make things. She had a good title for it that I saw on her TextEdit document, but I don't remember what it was exactly. It went over real well. Later when it got dark and even colder we played a crazy house show upstairs in a pretty apartment downtown. It took a lot to get us to Oberlin (see movie) and it was totally worth it. We don't get to play crazy parties or house shows that often, so when we do it's always weird in a good way and really fun. I'm still really sweaty from dancing so hard.

Keep it so real, friends. I have nothing but jammz in my heart for you. I miss my girlfriend. I miss my Mrs Whiskers cat... and this thermos.. and that's all I need.
Truly,
