Warning: This entry is mostly talk of my computer. It may be boring or even confusing for some people. Sorry, totally sorry. I just had sort of a magic moment. One thing totally unrelated to my computer and to this entry; make sure you buy the new Little Wings album "Grow" when it comes out. I've been listening to it while writing this. "Bee Gulls" is so amazing. Like, maybe the funniest thing I've ever heard on an album, music OR comedy.

Something really awesome just happened! It's 5:09 pm (EST) and we're flying through space on the I-90 heading east towards Toronto from Ohio. I'm writing this in the car without internet and I'll post it later on when we get to Canada and its internet.

Khaela and I try to be really respectful of each other and the car and each other while in the car. One little, but pretty nice, thing we've agreed on is to try and not talk on the phone in the car so much. Khaela has been driving today and I've been sleeping. We've been listening to the new Soft Pink Truth album over and over (IT'S SO GOOD) and after the third listen or so today Khaela turned off the stereo and started driving in silence. I'd been asleep for a good while, maybe right before the end of the second listen, and she started to pick at this styrofoam-alternative coffee cup she once had tea in... it sort of woke me up, along with the missing sound of the stereo, and after I wrestled around a little bit she asked me if I was awake. I knew that she was asking because she wanted to talk on the phone. I told her I'd get out my headphones and work on some music if she wanted to talk on the phone. She thanked me and assured me that I could listen if I wanted to, but I had much, much less than a single fluid ounce of desire to do so.

Here's the back story of why the end of the story feels so awesome:

In May of this year my PowerBook started taking a long time with optical media. DVDs would take a long time to mount on the Desktop and CDs would burn slowly. One day, very close to leaving to Europe to tour with Lucky Dragons and Bobby Birdman, a CD became stuck in the drive and wouldn't come out and stopped being accessible on the computer. I tried everything that I knew how to do, looked online for help and eventually took it to Apple and they replaced the drive and all of the cabling. Shortly after that another CD became stuck in the drive and it started all over again. In the next months I toured and toured and toured, tours right on top of other tours. I was only in one place for a couple days at the most and on a weird schedule, so I didn't end up having time to take the computer in again. I've just sort of accepted this now.. there's been a CD stuck in my drive for months and I haven't been able to rip new music to listen to in the car, I haven't been able to copy stuff from CDs people have burned for me and since the drive isn't totally broken it's been spinning the CD when my computer wakes up from sleep and stealing battery power making my battery run out pretty fast. Totally bogus.

So, when Khaela gets on the phone and I open my computer to start working on stuff, the CD that had been stuck in there for months just popped out. I just stared at the computer with the most blank feeling face on. SO WEIRD. So awesome. Thank you universe for doing this! I think it has something to do with updating to Mac OS X 10.3.6 last night.

Okay... It's the day after and with ying comes yang, with light comes dark.. stay tuned for another entry today entitled "HARSHED OUT AFTER EVERYTHING FEELS AMAZING" or something similar.
