I'm a little overwhelmed right now! So much has happened since we last talked. Now we're a force of 3; celebrating the addition of Dear Nora to our tour. We're safe and sound in the northeastern United States where there has been a good deal of snow falling from the sky, sticking to the ground and our car, then either melting or turning into ice. It's cold. WOAH! Footie Freez?

We played in Cortland, New York, Boston, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. Katy joined us in Boston where we ate some incredible vegan chinese food and danced in the street. Katy brings some deeper energy (sexual) and even deeper comedy vibes to the car and our lives. It's really awesome to be with her.

I have 3 videos for you, the first being from October 11th, when Katy first joined up with us:

Where is Katy?
(5.6 MB - VIDEO MP4)

Next we have a little bit of a video mixtape featuring songs by the classical radio station, Family Fodder, Sewing Circle (music by a boy we met in Chicago), Bruce Springsteen, The Soft Pink Truth, Laurie Anderson and Dear Nora (Katy wasn't with us when we made this). Canada, you did us well. Thank you:

Canada: LOVE YA!
(12.2 MB - VIDEO MP4)

The last movie is the most magical. Last night we visited the largest hole in the universe. It's in Providence and it's very, very, very, deep.. That's what I'm talking about.. it's deep.. it's only 25 feet wide or so, but it's DEEP. I'll write more once I learn more about it. For now I'll let the video speak:

The Largest Hole in the Universe
(7.4 MB - VIDEO MP4)

Thank you to everyone we've been with in the past few days! We're having so much fun and the shows have been so good. I'm miss my girlfriend so much, especially while talking to her on the phone.

Khaela took some good pictures of the show in Cortland, check them out:

Crouching, Jumping, Lighting, Singing and Abstracting.

Off to Poughkeepsie, New York, home of Vassar college and our next show. I wish that Luke could come on the rest of our tour with us. I wish that we had a train that we could pick up friends in every city and just roll with them. FRIENDS! It's so good to see and meet you. LOVE TO YOU.

Truly,
Jona

Jona, 4 Things:

1. Thank you for the sodas. That is awesome. I hope 7 Up Citrus Jam® is better than 7 Up Plus®, because 7 Up Plus is apparantly Plus Vomit.

2. I am in the Delta Crown Room™ in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I just wrote about the awesome regional foods I had in Cincinnati this weekend (including an awesome regional soda) on this website: http://www.urbanhonking.com/digest

3. Sunglasses are for cool dudes and cool dudes only.

4. It's funny how you say the word "weird" when you really mean the word bad. Like when you said "I haven't eaten anything and we've been driving a lot and I'm starting to feel weird" or when you said "Can you roll up the window because it's getting sorta windy and weird in here."

4a. PEACE OUT COOL DUDE.

Whoa. Comments don't recognize returns as line breaks. Hmm. What if I do this
New line??

NEW LINE???

Steve Schroeder @ November 14, 2004 11:57 AM

pierrrrre rrrrrrichardson @ November 14, 2004 1:36 PM

what are those sneakers, man?

Robert John Kieswetter @ November 14, 2004 1:44 PM

I was gonna ask about the sneakers too.
Except last time I asked about your sneakers you got all like, "these shoes have no animal parts. do your shoes have animal parts, cow killer?" and I wept openly.

But if they are vegan 80's Jordans, that be tight.

I dont know if your unders are around at all.

those aren't saucony's are they in the pictures? i think they are the best shoe around... hmm...yeah, i am random.

Rocco P. @ November 14, 2004 8:31 PM

who is the song after i think the springsteen sax stuff and dear nora with the "uh" thing on loop and mentions "superman" and "mom and dad"?

brent @ November 14, 2004 9:10 PM

Okay, okay. Yeah, dude.. line breaks are off. I couldn't get the text in the box without doing that.. I didn't try very hard either. I'll put that on my to-do-list, umkay? Steve, what are you doing in Cincinnati? Guys, I love how this website turned into a shoe-fancy site. The shoes are called "SHULIDAshoes" and they're fake DC skate shoes. Totally not leather. Totally plastic or something. Totally awesome!

Jona @ November 14, 2004 9:20 PM

does anyone from providence know WHY THAT HOLE EXISTS?

Kevin Erickson @ November 14, 2004 9:43 PM

brent--laurie anderson. i think the hole is for sewage overflow. i was reading today that at the bottom of the hole there is actually a tunnel that is going to go under downtown providence and collect all of its sewage so that it doesn't go out into the bay. i guess when they are done digging the tunnel they will cap off the hole and leave it like a big chamber with pumps and stuff...? big construction projects. wow! jona: photo montage!

dad dragons @ November 14, 2004 10:57 PM

yay Jona! Or, YAY!
the song SUPERMAN is from Laurie Anderson's album "Big Science" which in my book is SO her #1 jam that its really not funny; if it were possible for a free-jazz concept album to have back-to-back chart-topping singles despite being fairly experimental musically and also be defensible thesis level critique of the dominant geopolitical paradigm, that would definitely be the one.
yes the big whole is about rerouting stuff so when it rains the toilet won't flush into the ocean; the only reason it could ever need to be that freakin big however would have to be because that's where the giant hole drilling alien robots get in & out. Umm, I think. Besides "downtown" I've also heard that it will go "8 miles out to sea" and "to a big storage tank for treatment after the rain stops." so... ??? here is a picture from the canal right nearby there, what they are doing to the pollution pipes as the project progresses. pickled peppers.

while I'm nerding out big time, the 9.8 meters per second is actually 9.8 meters per second per second, a measurement of acceleration not speed. So, recalculating the depth of the hole based on your very succesful movie, it still equals infinity it just takes a little more long division.
Love! Rob!

Dr. WC Leachfield talks about that big hole.

And the Thanksgiving remix was rad, by the way, and I never use that word.

nadav @ November 16, 2004 6:39 AM

word on the street is that one of Yoos had a camera at the rager...
none have yet to surface... The bookshelf mysteriously survived the party and collapsed the following day for no apparant reason.
