Competition? Why does it always have to be a competition? It doesn't. This isn't. AZ, CA, you're both vast and beautiful in your own ways. California holds a lot more personal feeling for me and Amelia, not only because we have deep friends there.. but also because it's been a home to Amelia and a vacationland to me. California has pretty much always been a sun-filled happy-land that's a not-too-terribly-long drive away.

We made it out of Texas and spent our night in New Mexico where we saw The Incredibles, which we both thought to be very awesome. Seeing a movie on tour is a total luxury. After about two hours of sitting in nice chairs with popcorn and soda, completely entertained, we walked out of the theater a little disoriented.. we didn't know what time it was or where we were. I must see more movies in the daylight than at nighttime, because I'm always a little confused by the darkness when I go outside. Maybe at this point I'd been on tour just a little too long. Who knows?

Then Arizona. I've never appreciated it's stark desert beauty more than now.. even the ugly Southwest design with turquoise and pink and that junk. I think I love how ugly it is. We stopped at that little fake old west town and I bought an autograph book for 99¢. We got to the show and it ruled. Emily, thank you for putting on another awesome show in Phoenix. John Wackness, thank you so much for putting us up. You are consistently awesome and I hope that Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul book really works out for you. (see movie) A band called Black Feet gave away presents. AZ has presents.

When we got close to our friends we stopped taking as many pictures and movies. What's up with that? I mean, there are a few shots of a few things. Bobby Birdman in Los Angeles was awesome. He did a sing-a-long + double drums set after starting off with a few guitar songs. Thanks a ton to Ski Taylor for snapping shots of us in San Francisco. More like Bobby Singman, right? Yeah, totally. I had a really amazing time in San Francisco.. such a crazy night of music. Secret Mommy killed it with the steel drum. I loved it a lot. Warbler totally super-killed it.. EVERYONE WAS UP. Then.. just when you think it's over.. EATS TAPES!!! Triple-killed it. I wish everyone I know, and don't know, could have been there together.

I don't know if you know this, but it turns out that the sun makes a lot of difference in the world. When we woke up in California it was sunny and warm and so nice. That makes the morning such an awesome thing. Now I'm back in Portland and the sun is shining real bright and the air is cold and crisp. That's just as good as California. Portland also homes a ton of my friends.. so AZ, CA.. you both lose. OR. Totally OR.

I'm back. I'm so back. Stay tuned for a rare soda movie wrap-up.

The sun totally makes a huge difference, that's why those of us on the east coast, particularly in the northeast are grumpy and/or rude and/or emo so much. Serious.

That show in Phoenix really was great. Whenever you come back we have to play with you again.
