FRANCE!

I played the first festival of my life on Saturday, the 25th of June. It was a hot day, but not even close to the extreme hot that I was later aggressively introduced to in Paris on the 26th and than again, to an extreme, on the night of the 27th when we played at La Cigale. The festival is called Le Rock Dans Tous Ses Etats and it's in Evreux, France; a town I knew nothing about and had never heard anything about it until this festival. When we got into town there were huge posters everywhere and the band list was crazy with bands like Sonic Youth, Garbage, and Blonde Redhead. I had seen this lineup online while Googling some of the festivals we're playing, but it didn't really hit me until we were actually there. We are playing at crazy festivals (this is just stage B). We got out of the van and instantly I heard Cocorosie wafting through the festival air and in the ears of the thousands of people watching them.

I walked around and looked at the different stages, hung out in the multiple "artists' areas" and played with Kazu from Blonde Redhead's pretty puppy. Did you know that a lot of toilet paper in France is pink? This is nice. Well, then we played. It was our third show of the tour and it was by far the best we'd played. Here are the before and the after shots of the of crowd. I had never played in front of that many people before in my entire musical career.. which spans just about 12 years or something now. This includes my ill-fated lisp-based 5th grade rap group called "AIRHEADZ." It's strange to think that in a month or so I will have played a ton of these shows, a couple even twice the size. Here is a little preview of the festival vibe. More of this to come when we play at Roskilde day after tomorrow:

The Devendra parts in this video are from our incredible show in Paris!! Oh man! Thank you so much for coming on stage and dancing with us! That was, by far, our best show of the tour at this point. Thank you for it, Paris! It was a completely different feeling from our last show in Paris. Also, big shout outs to Balkan Beat Box and Cocorosie's Sierra for their presence in this video. What is that purple man all about? Can someone in France tell me?

I'm only happy when it rains. Thanks to Noah for letting me borrow his coat and then keeping his cool when I turned around and left it in the hotel room in Evreux. I've somehow caught the bug that looses stuff in almost every city. I won't be able to share any video with you from Brussels, Cologne or Hamburg.. I left my battery charger in Amsterdam and I can't track it down to have it sent to me. I'm looking, frantically, for a replacement but it's been hard to find this far.

I will borrow, steal, lie, beg or cheat my way to a new battery charger, friends. Fear not. I will bring you movies. In the meantime, take care and make sure your shoes are tied. (both of them)

Truly,
Jona

Jona, you have a Canon, right? I have an extra Canon battery charger which you're welcome to. If you can borrow, steal, lie, beg or cheat your way to a fedex account number, I'll happily send it to you in Europe.

Oh my god, this purple "man" ! It's a vulgar and popular quiz show on TF1, first french TV Channel. In many of its games, TF1 did put some synthetic and awful cartoon characters like this one who are supposed to give some life to the show and make jokes with the host (?) of the game.

Thanks for the video. The Parisian show was great fun. Not the same as in Café de la danse (where you had me laughing with your panda ears !), less freestyle and more fun... I uploaded a few videos that you can see here : http://www.blogotheque.net/article.php3?id_article=1124

We'll have some more soon... (And funny : the red haired girl who went on stage wrote us...)

The show in Paris was really incredible, thank you soooo much for it! I talked a little with Noah and Luckey after the show, they are so sweet! Tell them I give them a hug again, an everlasting one. And there's one for you too, because your blue beard rocks!
About the toilet paper, you actually can find it in every color here, the pink is what you usually find but in my own toilet for example it's blue (orange sometimes). Oh my, I wanted to talk about toilet paper color for so long!

Well see you very soon, I'll be on your road again this summer.

Tell us about Lyova? Please?

Using a lame as fuck "state of the art" 17" Windows laptop, I would like to tell you that your little kitty, Winky is doing fine, and says she misses you. She is having a difficult time working with the other cat "Pooka" but it seems as though they can work it out. Whiskers sits in front of her food, hence starving her. She is being territorial.

Love,
Joel
