2006 IS YOUR JAM

Archived From: Monday, January 2, 2006 @ 2:46 PM

Thank you for your pocket feedback in the last entry. I'm surprised and a touch of jealous at how many of you are in sweatpants. Sweatpants enthusiasts around the world have received countless emotional beatings regarding their choice of "comfort over fashion" for years now, and I just want to set the record* straight, guys. I say do your damn thing and get in your cozy zone as deeply as possible. I'm making a present for everyone that contributed pocket feedback and I'll post it here soon. Speaking of presents, here's a little one for you!

WELCOME TO 2006! This is your year. This is the year that it all happens. Golden stride, guys.

Tonight Claire and I are playing our first show together as WE TWO. Stay tuned for a limited edition CDR over in the Souvenirs. There are a couple YACHT shows and even a mini-tour in the east with the Clear Cut Press friends. All the dates will be frantically updated in the Live section. See you soon!

* in this case "the record" is my personal opinion of sweatpants and the people that love them

I have sweatpants on right now.

Aaron Snow @ January 2, 2006 5:18 PM

I've recently UPGRADED to white sweatpants, which in my opinion, are on a whole new level. Tweaking into a whole new era.

jazz @ January 3, 2006 9:54 AM

any hangups about homies wearing sweatpants in their own home while cruising they webs need to be squashed. if a homis can't get snugglis in their own zone something is truly effed.

now wearing sweat pants in public is something completely different.

Steve Schroeder @ January 3, 2006 11:19 AM

happy new year jona!

rita

rita @ January 3, 2006 9:59 PM

funny story actually. christmas day, hanging out with some friends playing guitar hero , I'm wearing sweatpants. and then I fall prey to the oldest trick in the book. A good ol "pantsing" infront of everyone! are we safe?

soultion - suspenders and sweats ?

trashcan @ January 4, 2006 1:00 AM

"now wearing sweat pants in public is something completely different"

hey steve i think the first 3 or 4 times i met you you were rocking those yellow sweatpants and yellow sweatjacket in public.

daniel @ January 4, 2006 12:51 PM

hey daniel
a warm up suit is entirely different.
velour is much fancier than cotton or fleece or whatever sweatpants are made of these days.
similar, but very different.

Steve Schroeder @ January 4, 2006 3:52 PM

Oh my gosh that animation was perfect.

Did you know Apple was thinking about redoing the startup sound, for the new Pentium-based macs? Psha.

fluffy @ January 5, 2006 2:09 PM

PS you are on the front page of vimeo! i didn't even have to type your name in.

fluffy @ January 5, 2006 2:13 PM

hanging out in underpants is much better than sweatpants.

i would have posted a pocket comment but i never had pockets/things in pockets.

sarah @ January 5, 2006 9:20 PM

JAZZ: Where do you get white sweatpants? I am not kidding when I say that I have been looking very hard for a pair of white sweats for at least four years.

JONA: www.thegreysweatsuitrevolution.com GET IN.

Megan D @ January 6, 2006 9:53 AM

I see no dilemma with sportswear-in-everyday-life until one approaches the realm of 'sweatpants with shoes'. Sandals, trainers, flip flops, carpet slippers... that's all okay, but there exists those occasions when no other footwear is available but WORK SHOES. I've done this combo sans-chaussettes, no less, and it was NOT cool.

AJ @ January 6, 2006 10:57 AM

megan!!!

at walgreens, seriously 2 blocks from my house.
for 5 u.s. dollars.

bam.

jazz @ January 8, 2006 8:39 PM

yeah, you all need to hit up San Diego.. It's suckin' down here.
Casbah.. Che cafe... my backyard...

Sundar @ January 8, 2006 10:27 PM

I have no pockets.

Andrew V Peterson @ January 10, 2006 9:58 AM

Cool high school gym class trick: cut off the bottom elastic of the sweatpants, and then cut a 6-inch slit on both outsides so your sneaks can breathe. We are talking sweatpant hacks, homies!!

Rebecca @ January 10, 2006 3:17 PM

I had this dream last night, where I met you Jona, and Blow-Khaela, at some fancy nightclub/bar/something here in Copenhagen. And I think it was new year's eve and you said that you came to Denmark because the new year hit us earlier than in USA. And you were so very nice to talk to, and I asked if you would come and play here some time soon. And we hung out some, and you both agreed to come again soon and play.
When I woke up, I couldn't help feeling I had to write and tell you this. I mean, if people dream about me, I like to hear it.
