ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI REMIXES

AiH Remixes

I've always been a fan of remixes, covers, and sometimes even mash-ups (but only when they're super deep like the homie Girl Talk). The first remixes I did were two Bobby Birdman songs from his EP Heart Caves (you can download them for free here and here), and I loved making them. That "I Will Come Again" remix is on the Birdman Fryk Beat 12", make sure you get that if you don't have it!

I have a handful of new remixes that are coming out over the next couple months and I wanted to share with you guys first. The first is a remix I made a couple days ago for Architecture in Helsinki for a song called "Nevereverdid." It's going to be on a new CD of remixes that comes out soon. Grab my remix here:

These MP3s have the cover art already in them, but if it doesn't display for you for some reason you can grab it here:

AiH/YACHT Remix Cover Art

Before I made the "Nevereverdid" remix I made a remix of seemingly everyone's favorite AiH song "Do The Whirlwind." I mean, I understand why people like it so much, it's a perfect song! That fact made it hard and easy to remix it. This one is an internet exclusive:

If you don't already have the Architecture in Helsinki albums you should totally buy them! They are some of the nicest people I've met and their recordings go deep. Khaela is going to be playing some shows with them (I'm going to be YACHT touring and not with The Blow) soon. I've seen AiH twice and both times literally blew my mind (the part of my mind that was in charge of cooking with Chinese Five Spice).

SITE NOTE: From now on I'm going to use little tooltips that let you know what's going to happen when you click on a link, i.e. a regular link to an external site, an image popup for photos, a movie popup for movie windows, and an MP3 link. Thanks to E*Rock for the link and MudCorp for making cool stuff.

ahh. i really love this do the whirlwind remix. i think it was the one on your myspace.

how can there be a blow without jona?

Can the tooltip font color be black or something easier to read? Cool idea.

For a while I was confused about the whirlwind song and thought that it was a Blow song when I would hear it in coffee shops or whatever. I finally figured it out.

The tooltip default is in black but I thought it was too jarring, I hear you, though.

You didn't hear the remix in coffee shops, right?

Jona @ September 9, 2006 12:34 AM

Google Overlib. You can do lots of neat stuff with it, as well.

I'm so glad the Do The Whirlwind remix online, I was bummed i could never DL that off your webpage. Totally diggin' Neverdid as well.

Erik @ September 10, 2006 7:22 PM

Woo great.

ian @ September 11, 2006 4:31 PM

No, it was the original in coffee shops.

dalas v @ September 12, 2006 11:20 AM

i like the neverdid remix.

e*rock @ September 12, 2006 12:13 PM

Damn, those remixes are tight. Thank you for being so generous and posting them as mp3s. I also like the visual mash--up of Austrailia and the US. The chopped vocals on the "And then it begins" remix are off the hook. REEEEEEEE-MIX!

Nick @ September 21, 2006 3:25 PM

You should put up the remake of lean on me you played at the PDX pop! fest...

The ending to the nevereverdid remix by aih is crazy.

reilly @ September 25, 2006 8:29 AM

Do the Whirlwind seems to be everybody's favourite song no more! Hahahaha!

I come to expel the myth, I, the oddity, would like to share with you my favorite Architecture in Helsinki song: What's in Store (It's 5 being a close second. now wouldn't that remix well, wink wink nudge nudge =) )

Saz @ September 25, 2006 4:26 PM

I agree with the fellow who said you should up that lean on me remix. I'd be the happiest boy in the state of Oregon if you did.

Sorry if this is a stupid question (I don't read blogs too often) but what is the scoop on the remix album? I'd like to hear all of this stuff you've been working on.

Nathan @ October 9, 2006 10:52 PM

Ok. Just read at the top. Remix album coming soon. Hopefully that means very soon. These AIH remixes made me smile beyond belief.

Nathan again. @ October 9, 2006 10:55 PM
