COMMENT DIT-ON "HALF IN FRENCH?"

Friends-On-Screen.jpg

Bises,
Claire

Happy Halloween!

This trip has been incredibly low stress and nice, guys. The shows with Rob and Luke were very awesome and I feel super honored to have had the chance to play at a museum! The Pompidou! Come on! I've been in Paris for just over a week now and it feels completely normal to me. I think it helps that I'm staying literally blocks from the hotel I stayed in last year during the TV show madness, making the 9th the neighborhood I know the best. I was worried about finding vegan places to eat, but the joined forces of local friends and the Happy Cow website have come through and made it both very easy and awesome. Basically my vibe here is working on thew new album, eating organic bread from the bakery next door, going out to vegetarian restaurants, and watching Lost episodes projected on the wall. I'm really thankful to have this very, very, very relaxed and super cozy experience here. I know it won't last forever, and it feels extra special.

I miss you Whiskers! I miss you friends! I'm excited to come home to Portland in December and live in our apartment that we only just moved into. I'm excited to drink cocoa with you guys.

The Blow album is finally out! You can buy it here through K Records if you live in the US, here through Tomlab if you live in Europe, and here through Popfrenzy if you live in Australia. This is my fist "worldwide" release and I'm really excited and proud of it. I won't be touring with Khaela, but don't worry I'll see you soon when this new YACHT record comes out and I tour forever and stop in your city and country!

This week we (The Blow) are the featured iTunes Single of the Week! Check out the iTunes page! Download it here:

True Affection
(3.3 MB - MP3)

Oh my god you guys! As of right now there are 248 "reviews" of the download and they are something! A lot of them are from kids that don't have explicit tracks (for some reason all of the album is marked with a big red EXPLICIT when only one song two songs say "shit"), and a lot of them call on the clever pun of "The Blow Blows!" It's pretty incredible to how a deeply wide audience reacts to our music. Surprisingly a lot of people mention that they think the song should be on Grey's Anatomy, a doctor TV show I've never seen. Thoughts?

As an obsessive fan, I feel the need to respectfully point out that both Babay and Long List of Girls have the word "shit" in them. Now I'm off to go tell everyone I know to go check out the iTunes store.

Jona @ November 1, 2006 4:32 AM

Looooving the jitter shirts!

Kevs @ November 1, 2006 9:07 AM

Jona,

Here are some of the best parts of the iTunes reviews. You should put them on the Blow site.

"Mediocre vocals and elementary school instrumentals...leave electronics to radiohead"

They'll sign anyone these days..."

"a mix between cat power and postal service"

"They suk. Who writes about True Affection?"

"This song is a bunch of techno beats and someone more talking instead of singing. Its not very good at all"

"Maybe [iTunes] could try to get us some freebies that actually have the CHANCE to chart in the U.S.??"

"What Midi Patch is that?...Ummm, it's just sad when you ask the question what midi patch is it, you know that crappy one..."

"Dude, my teacher playes this song at my school when ever we run a 5 mile run" (Whoa)

"Disgusting"

"What type of song is this my dead grandma can sing better than that."

"Very screechy and annoying. Hate it"

"like laffy taffy and ashley simpson combined"

"NOT ROCK MUSIC"

Cory Weaver @ November 1, 2006 10:39 AM

Woah, K just sent me this:

"Just wanted to let you know that "Paper Television" debuted on the Billboard Electronic charts at #40."

COLIN MICHAEL @ November 1, 2006 9:54 PM

Duder, I'm pretty sure Tipper Gore is not into threesomes. I hope, for your sake, that I am wrong!

Morgan Dorney @ November 1, 2006 10:22 PM

I take your french writing for soo much love.
Merci et j'espere que les francais vous le rendent bien.

cidric @ November 1, 2006 11:54 PM

is b. birdman getting all acoustic hippie now?
right on!!!

greg @ November 2, 2006 9:31 PM

Claire - thanks for cluing me in to the technical answer for the green 'uniforms', ie screen suits. Love the Francais. . . . R

Richard Jensen @ November 2, 2006 11:59 PM

billy bobbermin has always been a hippy

adam Forkner @ November 3, 2006 9:47 AM

I recall listening to "let me in" and someone coming into the room and saying "when did bobby birdman make acoustic guitar hippy music?"

gray's anatomy is my guilty pleasure tv show and yes, the blow would fit in well. it's deep with messy love triangles.

It seems people who comment on free itunes songs don't have good taste in music. except for that person who mentioned cat power.

how do you do it Jona? Does beats are ridiculously good. You and Khaela are such a good match. you two made something thats just out of this world
Paper Television is a remarkable achievement

Brian @ November 5, 2006 4:36 PM

Best comment I saw:

"The free singles just keep getting worse every week. I think iTunes has an obsession with putting stupid electronic crap for their free singles. They seriously need to get some better singles like Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, or Audioslave."

AUDIOSLAVE.

Chelsea Hodson @ November 6, 2006 7:04 AM

hey you should release some instrumentals of Paper Television. I adore Khaela's voice and lyrics, but it would be interesting to just hear the beats.

Brian @ November 6, 2006 3:39 PM

This is STILL - after 10 years - the only french i really remember to be able to say in conversation, but in this case, i think it's kinda fitting.
"Tu est un maison pomme d'terre."

Take it as a compliment.
I will say it one more time and then never again because regrets suck, but it's a bummer you weren't on tour with AIH this time around...maybe in the future? Take those new Jams to the limit!
