FIRST DAYS IN JAPAN

We spent pretty much 3 days in Tokyo. We arrived on the 1st at 5pm and we couldn't believe we were here, not in the way where we were so excited to be here, rather, we actually didn't believe we were in Japan. It took a good hour to realize that we weren't on another familiar tour in a familiar United States, or even a mildly familiar western Europe.

I'm on tour in Japan with two bands, one made up three girls from New York called Au Revoir Simone. Their music reminds me of Azure Ray, a band I used to listen to a lot in 2002 or so. It's soft music and they wear nice dresses. The other band I'm touring with is Montag, made up of one amazingly cute and nice French Canadian man named Antoine. His boyfriend Kris is also on tour with us, and they are one of the cutest couples of humans that I've ever been around! Our crew also includes my girlfriend Claire, her friend Evan from Los Angeles who is now living in Taipei and studying Chinese, our collective record label dad, Fumi, and Koji, a saintly man who is driving the bands' equipment from town to town while we take the train to each place.

Guys, Japan! We're in Japan!

We've played two shows so far and the audiences have been really polite, attentive, and so nice. I've been signing a lot of autographs on the Japanese version of my album, which is out on Rallye Label, and really pretty! I wish I could bring back copies to sell as an "import version," but I don't think that can happen. I'll take pictures of it, instead!

I'm taking a lot of photos and movies to put together something for you later. I also have some video from the Architecture in Helsinki tour, and the last two shows I did with LCD Soundsytem in Los Angeles. I need to catch up.

In the meantime, check out this one! Here it is on Flickr, too.

DOUBLE NEW! Check out this cameraphone loop from Nagoya! Thanks Yuka!

Despite of my nickname I'm an Italian living in Tokyo.
I'm the guy who screamed OH MY GOD faking surprise yesterday night in Yokohama when the 2 girls said they had seen your show in Portland before.

Me and my japanese friend went to Club 24 from Tokyo. On the way back we missed the last train and at the concert, remained stucked 4 hours in a karaoke singing brit-pop, japanese pop and shit and at the concert we didn't even found a book to learn your power moves. (they are so excting man, you HAVE to publish a tutorial or something).

And most of all, YOU WEREN'T THERE IN THE BACK OF THE CLUB SO I COULDN'T TELL YOU ALL MY SECRETS.

Whatever. Just tell me what's the meaning all the ending of ALL your song and we can still be good friend. XD

New souvenirs? Are you making some new Yacht t-shirts like the one in the photo? I was thinking of making a YACHT tribute shirt, but if there are some coming out I would to know. Wish you all the fun luck in Japan!
